This report relies on the shipped/invoice date on sales orders to mark when an item was removed from inventory. </span></p><h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-causes-for-quantity-changes">Causes for quantity changes</h2><p><span style="font-weight: 400">If your sales order shipped or invoice date changed since you last pulled the report, your product quantities may be different the next time you generate it.</span></p><ul class="wp-block-list"><li><span style="font-weight: 400">If the shipped/invoice date on your sales order changes to a date after your specified target date, it&#8217;s expected that your product quantity will be higher than a previously generated report. In this scenario, your product moved out of inventory on a later date than the target date in your report, and will still be counted towards inventory. &nbsp;</span></li><li><span style="font-weight: 400">If the shipped/invoice date on your sales order changes to a date before your specified target date, it&#8217;s expected that your product quantity will be lower than a previously generated report. With this in mind, sometimes you&#8217;ll run into different numbers. This doesn&#8217;t mean your inventory/information is incorrect, as you should be able to generate reports using the dashboard parameters that will show you the information used to come to those totals.</p><p>The Dashboard&#8217;s parameters and the report you can generate are listed below.</p><p>Note:</p><ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Your time ranges should always match; for example, if you&#8217;re showing information for &#8220;Last Month&#8221; in the dashboard, you should always use the same &#8220;Last Month&#8221; setting on your reports.</li><li>The dashboard grouped by &#8220;Months&#8221; or &#8220;Weeks&#8221; will only show an average across the time range. If you&#8217;re using inFlow Inventory to track your sales and purchases, it&#8217;s easy to get a good portion of your business numbers for that return*</p><p><strong>Total Sales &amp; Taxes Charged </strong>for your filing year can be pulled via the <em>Sales Tax </em>report. Simply change the Order Date filter to &#8220;Last Year&#8221; and write down the total Sales Amount (as noted on the last line of the last page of your report). inFlow can also break these amounts down by state by state if necessary.</p><figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.inflowinventory.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/06/43096000_1.png" alt="" class="wp-image-21807"/></figure><p><strong>Opening &amp; Closing Value of Inventory</strong> that was in stock on a certain date can be pulled using the <em>Historical Inventory Report</em>. You will have to pull this report twice: once by setting the <em>Target Date</em> for the first of the year (Jan 1) and once by setting it for the last day of the year (Dec 31).</p><p>Please note: orders that are partially completed will not be counted as moved so if you had a partially completed purchase order, that stock will not be counted towards your current inventory on the target date. The same is true of partially completed sales orders as that stock will not be considered to have been shipped out if it&#8217;s partially shipped as of the target date.</p><p><strong>Purchases during the year (not expenses)</strong> should be the total paid for goods you&#8217;ve re-distributed or used to manufacture something you distributed. Here are a few common scenarios to help you understand reports in inFlow Inventory.</p><p><strong>End of day profit report</strong></p><p>This is useful if you wanted to see your sales / profit totals for today. Typically this report also includes cost of goods sold.</p><ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Go to <em>Main Menu &gt; Reports &gt; All Reports.</em></li><li>Click <em>Sales Order Profit Report</em>.</li><li>Ensure that you have set the filters to show only orders that have the <em>Payment Status,</em>&nbsp;&#8220;Paid&#8221; and the date is&nbsp;today&#8217;s date.</li><li>Click <em>Generate Report.</em></li><li>Click <em>Print,</em> or click&nbsp;<em>Save As</em> to export&nbsp;the report to Excel / PDF.</li></ol><p><strong>End of day cash report</strong></p><p>This one&#8217;s useful for retailers who need to check the cash float at the end of the day.</p><ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Go to <em>Main Menu &gt; Reports &gt; All Reports.</em></li><li>Click&nbsp;<em>Customer Payment Details</em> report.</li><li>Ensure that you have set the filters to show only orders that have the <em>Payment Date&nbsp;</em>&#8220;Today&#8221; and&nbsp;<em>Payment Method&nbsp;</em>&#8220;Cash&#8221;.</li><li>Click <em>Generate Report</em><em>.</em></li><li>Click <em>Print,</em> or click&nbsp;<em>Save As</em> to export&nbsp;the report to Excel / PDF.</li></ol><p><strong>Inventory summary report</strong></p><p>This includes information on the current stock, such as current quantity and total cost value of what you have in your warehouse.</p><ol class="wp-block-list"><li>Go to <em>Main Menu &gt; Reports &gt; All Reports.</em></li><li>Choose the <em>Inventory Summary Report</em>.</li><li>We suggest clicking the <em>&gt;&gt;More</em>&nbsp;link and choosing how you&#8217;d like to sort your items.</li><li>Click <em>Generate Report</em><em>.</em></li><li>Click <em>Print,</em> or click&nbsp;<em>Save As</em> to export&nbsp;the report to Excel / PDF.</li></ol><p><strong>Inventory aging report</strong></p><p>This report is useful if you want to see the length of time your items have been in inventory. This is fixable by backdating the cost but not all costing methods use the same method to backdate.
